Dustin Lynch: "Luke Bryan Is Mean to Me"

BBR Music Group This summer’s Kill the Lights tour isn’t Dustin Lynch’s first trek with Luke Bryan. But the Tullahoma, Tennessee, hitmaker jokes the CMA Entertainer of the Year only invites him out because he’s become his favorite foil.

“He’s mean to me! He picks on me a lot,” Dustin laughs. “The best thing he’s done to me backstage:  I was turning the corner coming out of catering the other day with my tray full of food. He karate kicks it out of my hands, all over me, all over the hallway and just laughs and was like, ‘Thanks, dude!’ I swear he’s got me out for a second round, just so he can have somebody to pick on again this year!”

Still, as he works on his next album, Dustin dreams of a collaboration with the man who’s become a lot like a country music big brother to him.

“It would take a lot of convincing and begging on my end, but he and I come from the same background,” Dustin says. “We do a lot of the same things in life together. We love being outdoors, you know. We love the adrenaline rush of hunting or fishing or whatever it is, so we’re the same guy, pretty much, as far as offstage goes… I think there is that camaraderie and likeness there. It would make sense for us to one day do something, and that would be very kind and generous of him to do. It would take a lot of someone convincing me to ask him to do it!” he adds.

Wednesday in Nashville, Dustin Lynch celebrates the number-one success of his song, “Mind Reader,” while his latest single, “Seein’ Red,” climbs the charts.
