Morris, Inc. President and CEO John Morris has announced that the company will be closing down its Morris Equipment Division. Morris Equipment consists of implement dealerships and equipment rental businesses in Pierre, Mitchell, Mobridge and Valentine, NE. The closure of the locations comes as the company faces challenges to remain profitable due to a sluggish economy and a drought that has affected its customer base.
Morris says that “all his time is dedicated to his loyal employees and customers.”
Morris says the company’s goal is to ramp down operations over the next 30 days in a manner that provides time for our loyal employees to prepare for their next career path. Morris Equipment employees will be offered a severance package to help them make the transition.
Morris also stated that Morris, Inc.’s strategic plan is to remain focused on their core business operations which consists of aggregate crushing, asphalt mix production and laydown, redi-mix concrete, site utilities, site work, all aspect of highway-heavy construction, and Agriculture Irrigation services.
The closure will mean the loss of approximately 25 jobs in the four locations. Management will be working with the local Department of Labor and Economic Development offices to find new opportunities for the Morris Equipment employees.
