Kip Moore shows off his “Slowheart,” just ahead of his Sunday skate date with Tony Hawk

MCA NashvilleIt’s not a bad time to be Kip Moore. His latest single, “More Girls Like You,” is in the top-10, just as his third studio album, Slowheart, comes out on Friday. On top of that, the adventure-junkie has a date with Tony Hawk on Sunday.

“You know, the biggest skateboarder ever is coming into Nashville,” Kip says excitedly, “and gonna put on a clinic, man, and just him and a bunch of pro skaters skate around…”

Kip and Tony are teaming up for Sunday’s Music City Skate Jam in Walk of Fame Park in Nashville. The event will raise money for both of their foundations, which work to build skate parks in America’s inner cities.

“I’ve built six so far,” Kip says. “You know, my hopes [are] to build six more within the next year-and-a-half…”

“We go into the parts of town where these kids need something,” he explains. “This is not the privileged parts of town. These are the kids that are the fighters. You know, they’ve got their backs to the wall and these are the kids we’re trying to inspire and hopefully, you know, keep out of trouble.”

Music City Skate Jam kicks off Sunday at 3 p.m. CT, with newcomer Jordan Davis taking the stage prior to Tony Hawk’s demo at 6. Kip closes out the night with music.
