During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, Gwen confirmed she was the one who convinced her country singer beau to accept the magazine’s honor.
“I feel totally responsible because he’s so not that person,” she said. “He doesn’t even like to do a photo shoot. You can never convince him to do it.”
But Gwen did manage to convince him, and that’s when she says “chaos” and “craziness” ensued. People took to social media to criticize the magazine’s decision, but Gwen says Blake’s “sexy” factor is more than just skin deep.
“If you think about it, what defines sexy?” she says. “It really is so personal, you know what I mean? For me, it’s just that big ol’ heart and that sense of humor. He doesn’t even take himself seriously, and he’s just such an incredible person. And that’s sexy to me.”
Gwen and Blake currently have a duet together, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” the title track on Gwen’s holiday album. They’ll be performing it on Gwen’s NBC Christmas special, airing December 12.
