What Makes Him Country: Luke Bryan rocks NYC with “Good Morning America” performance at Opry City Stage

ABC/Paula LoboLuke Bryan took New York City by storm Friday morning, performing on ABC’s Good Morning America live from the brand-new Opry City Stage, a country music venue and eatery in the heart of Times Square.  And Luke says he’s always found that country fans in New York are just as dedicated as those outside the big city.

“People are always amazed when you’re doing country music certainly in the heart of Manhattan, but the fans are the fans,” he tells ABC Radio. “They love the music and they show up in droves.”

Luke says he’s happy that there’s now a country music venue right in the middle of New York City where fans can get their fix.

“I think when you get tired of the crazy life in the city and you want a little slice of country here in the Big Apple, just swing on in and it’s almost like you go to Nashville for a little bit,” he notes.

While Luke spent Friday performing live on TV for millions of fans to mark the release of his new album, What Makes You Country, he was also marking something else: his 11th wedding anniversary.  So how is he going to make it up to his wife Caroline for putting their special day on the back burner for his album launch?

“She’s flying to L.A. tonight, and she’ll have roses waiting on her,” Luke laughs. “And, you know, we’ve got a couple of days in L.A. to kinda go shopping. So we’re gonna have some fun, but she was a great…she is a great sport!”
