Sugarland returns with new music, New Year’s Eve performance

The country duo, who took a five-year break to pursue other passions, will release “Still the Same” on Dec. 21. This marks their first single in five years.

“We are thrilled for fans to hear our new music, especially this new single,” Jennifer Nettles said in a statement. “The title of the song is so meaningful to us as we want fans to know, we are still the same, we are still the same Sugarland they’ve known and loved.”

Nettles and bandmate Kristian Bush will also team up as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018 live from New York City’s Times Square on Dec. 31. Sugarland will join Camila Cabello and Nick Jonas on stage to perform from the center of Times Square, with additional acts to be announced soon. The five-and-a-half-hour show will air live starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Sugarland is currently back in the studio working on their new album. The duo’s also expected to announce tour plans for 2018 in the coming months.
