ABC Radio It’s been more than fifteen months since Sam Hunt released his crossover smash, “Body Like a Back Road,” but on Wednesday, his follow-up is finally coming.
“New single, out tomorrow… ‘Downtown’s Dead,'” Sam shared Tuesday morning on Instagram, along with three pictures. One shows Sam with a full beard and a new haircut, wearing a tan coat, while the other two are of a mountain and a brightly-colored yellow wall. Later, Sam added another photo of a vintage Volkswagen Beetle on what appears to be a street in the Southwest.
Earlier this year, Sam predicted he’d have new music by the start of tour season, but he’s recently revealed his sophomore album isn’t necessarily coming together like he’d planned.
“I haven’t really found the next thing that I really want to turn into a project,” he told Yahoo. “I just have a lot of songs that are scattered all over the place. It hasn’t come together in a way that would really make a great album.”
Sam stands to take home five awards at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, all on the strength of “Body Like a Back Road.” Later this month, he hits the road to join the stadium dates on Luke Bryan‘s What Makes You Country tour.
