ABC/Image Group LAAt last November’s CMA Awards, Maren Morris teamed up with Niall Horan to perform their duet “Seeing Blind,” from his debut solo album Flicker. Now, starting tonight, Maren will spend the summer in “The Middle” of his world tour, opening for the British singer who rose to fame as a member of One Direction.
Maren, who’s never toured with a pop star before, says it’s all about “me bringing my music to the world.” Though she’s previously toured with Keith Urban and Sam Hunt, Maren tells ABC Radio, “It’s gonna be such a different mode…for me…it’s a lot crazier routing than I’m used to on country tours. But I think if we get enough sleep, we’re gonna have a good time!”
Maren isn’t joking about the routing: She and Niall are kicking things off tonight in Auckland, New Zealand and will travel to Australia, the Far East, South America and Mexico before arriving in the U.S. on July 18.
“This whole thing has been about me bringing my music to the world,” she explains. “And so this just felt like a really great challenge.”
“To be on tour with someone that is so universally known, and is so talented in their own right, to bring me out and open me up to this entire universe of fans, I mean, it’s just gonna be so fun,” the singer continues. “Yeah, I wanna be able to share my music with as many people while I’m here as possible.”
Meanwhile, Maren’s hit collaboration with producer/DJ Zedd and electronic duo Grey, “The Middle,” currently sits at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. She’s currently working on her sophomore album, as “Rich” climbs the country chart.
