Luke Bryan’s ready to reveal the CMA noms live on “GMA”: “I would be lying if I said I don’t have my fingers crossed”

ABC/Craig SjodinWhen Luke Bryan announces this year’s CMA nominations Tuesday on Good Morning Americawith Sugarland and Dan + Shay, he’ll be pinching himself a little bit.

“You know, the ability to welcome GMA and the CMAs and ABC in my bar in downtown Nashville is pretty amazing,” Luke admits. “It kinda tells me, like, I don’t understand how I’ve gotten here. But through the years, being able to perform on the CMAs, [and] to have won two Entertainer of the Year awards is so surreal.”

After more than a decade in the business, the “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” hitmaker says the excitement of the CMA Awards never goes away.

“Every time the nominations come out, it’s so fun to see who is getting nominated and what songs [are in the running] and it’s a special day,” Luke reflects. “I mean, I would be lying if I said I don’t have my fingers crossed for certain things to go my way, but it’s not why I’m in the business — to try to get nominations.”

“But it’s certainly amazing when you do get the nominations and when they’re nominations from your peers within the CMA community and the voters, it’s very, very special.”

This year, the big reveal happens live from Luke’s 32 Bridge Food + Drink on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville. You can watch for the announcement on GMA, which starts at 7 a.m. all across the country on ABC.
