Shania Twain’s “Now” opens atop “Billboard” album chart

Mercury NashvilleLooks like plenty of fans were hungry for new music from Shania TwainNow, Shania’s first studio album in nearly 15 years, debuts this week atop the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart.

Now did 137,000 in sales and equivalent streams in its first week, 134,000 of which were traditional album sales, the third-largest sales week for a country album in 2017, Billboard reports.  Among country albums, Now‘s first-week performance was only bested by Chris Stapleton‘s From A Room: Volume 1 and Zac Brown Band‘s Welcome Home.

Shania also racked up and the largest sales week for a female artist in almost two years, and the biggest sales week for a female country artist since Carrie Underwood‘s Storyteller debuted in November of 2015 with 164,000 in sales and streams.

Now is the second country album to top the all-genre chart so far this year, following Thomas Rhett‘s Life Changes.
